Forde

Forde is spread out over 165 hectares and includes manicured open space, education facilities a village centre and of course residential land. It is expected to be home to approximately 4500 residents in over 1,450 homes upon completion.

• Every home is within 200m of landscaped parkland
• 6 village parks and playrounds
• 43 hectares of open space
• 21 Km’s of hike and bike paths
• Located adjacent to the Mulligans Flat Nature Reserve
• Major pond network linking Mulligans Flat to Yerrabi ponds 

The Forde campus of the Burgmann Anglican School opened in 2009 to pre-school to year 1 classes. Year 2 classrooms were opened in 2010. Year 6-8 classrooms, administration building and school hall were opened in 2011. The 90 place Forde Early Learning Centre opened in 2009 and is now operating at full capacity. 

The Forde village centre will open in December 2011. A small convenience store, restaurant and retail outlets are all planned as part of the facility in the heart of Forde.

Aquatots learn to swim centre opened to the public in early 2011 in the Forde village centre.

The community centre will be launched as part of the village centre building and is expected to be handed over to the ACT government to continue with running the community program.

An active neighbourhood watch group, community garden committee and Forde community church are already operating. Paint and Play playgroup commenced in May 2011 every Thursday.

Forde is now sold out of all land with only 50 affordable House & Land Packages available for sale. There is no General Agency setup in Forde.

Forde is an active member of the Bush on the Boundary Reference Group. The sustainability series of events has been running since 2009.

Forde Residents Association will be formed in 2011 to manage the ongoing community events that have been fostered by Forde until now.

3 Caring for Country indigenous traineeships were founded by Forde and commenced in February 2011. Traineeships will run for 3 years with a view to the trainees gaining permanent employment with the ACT Government.

As an extension to the Neighbourhood Watch program Safety Houses are being established throughout Forde in 2011.

Events to support and promote community safety include Water Safety Week, Dog Park safety and etiquette, and Home Safety workshops in partnership with the ACT Police

Forde is a joint venture development between the ACT Governments Land Development Agency, Delfin Lend Lease and CIC Australia
