Lend Lease, one of the nation’s leaders in public/private community development is overseeing one of the largest overall Military Housing Privatization Initiative (MHPI) portfolios to date, and holds the largest share of privatized housing contracts with the U.S. Army. In ten years, Lend Lease has built a strong reputation for its sound business practices; its property portfolio includes real estate on more than 21 military installations in 19 states. As a fully integrated property solutions provider, Lend Lease’s goal is to surpass expected financial outcomes for all stakeholders and add further long-term value by creating developments that will continue operations for a minimum of 50 years.
Lend Lease became the first development to begin operations under the Privatization of Army Lodging (PAL) in August 2009 and assumed ownership of more than 3,200 hotel rooms located across 10 U.S. Army installations and with its operations partner, IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group). In 2010, the Army selected Lend Lease to implement the second phase of the program to renovate, develop, operate, and sustain hotels at an additional 11 installations, bringing the total portfolio to approximately 7,700 hotel rooms on 21 military installations throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. In April 2013, Lend Lease closed the third phase of the program, bringing the total portfolio to more than 11,600 rooms on 39 military installations throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Today, Lend Lease’s privatized hotel portfolio includes 12,492 hotel rooms on 41 military installations.
