Leaving a positive legacy

We recognise that the benefits of sustainable development must extend beyond a reduction in the environmentasl footprint to deliver places that: are more operationally efficient; focus on human health and wellness; and are designed and built to be more resilient to maintain value over the longer term.

# Climate Change Impacts:
Adapting to a 2.0°C warmer world by 2050 will require investments of USD70 – USD100 billion per year.

* Middle Class:
China's rising middle class, which according to some estimates is expected to grow to more than 850 million people by 2030.

~ Water Scarcity:

By 2025, 1.8 billion people will be living in countries or regions with absolute water scarcity, and two-thirds of the world's population could be living under water stressed conditions.

^ Ageing Population & Growth:
Over the first half of the current century, the global population 60 or over is projected to expand by more than three times to reach nearly 2 billion in 2050 (figure 8).
The current world population of 7.3 billion is expected to reach 8.5 billion by 2030, 9.7 billion in 2050 and 11.2 billion in 2100

- Rapid Urbanisation:
The continuing urbanization and overall growth of the world’s population is projected to add 2.5 billion people to the urban population by 2050, with nearly 90 per cent of the increase concentrated in Asia and Africa. At the same time, the proportion of the world’s population living in urban areas is expected to increase, reaching 66 per cent by 2050.

Targets and Aspirations

Our long-term aspirations are in place to measure our progress and performance within our sustainability framework.They build on work to date and address the challenges we all face in a rapidly changing world. They are not just boxes to tick, they are essential goals we must deliver on.

Better Build Green

We are proud to support Better Build Green, which is the World Green Building Council’s new campaign which focuses on the UN climate change negotiations - COP21 in Paris. The campaign aims to show the world that green buildings offer one of the best and most cost-effective ways to tackle climate change and help keep global temperature rises within the two degrees limit.
