Creating sustainable communities for everyone to enjoy
All over the world, Lend Lease designs safe, welcoming communities with the best facilities for people to live, work, learn and play. They’re places that combine appealing architecture and vibrant urban meeting spaces with parks, waterways, green open spaces and leafy streetscapes. Most importantly they’re places that support individuals and households of all ages, backgrounds and budgets, both today and tomorrow. We offer real opportunities in housing, education, work and healthy recreation to ensure our communities continue to grow and prosper.
We’ve been creating large-scale, master planned urban communities in Australia for more than 50 years. We’ve built strong expertise in areas such as community enterprise, education, creating town centres, economic development, environmental initiatives and affordable housing. While in the USA, our end-to-end property solutions incorporate the planning, designing, building and managing of military housing communities. These developments include the country’s largest residential solar thermal energy project. Our community-building skills are also on show in the mixed-use sector, where we’re delivering industry-leading projects around the world.
Whatever the project, we always take a holistic approach to master planning, focusing on the lifestyle and community benefits as much as the physical aspects of the places we create.

Lend Lease worked with state and local governments to create an economic development strategy at the start of the Mawson Lakes project. Spread over a 600 hectare site just north of Adelaide, Mawson Lakes was expected to have 11,000 residents in up to 4,000 homes by 2011, as well as facilities for 7,000 workers and 7,500 students. Our strategy included a long-term target for 6,000 new jobs, with on-site high-tech employment opportunities expected to generate more than 4,500.
We’ve also partnered with state and local government, the adjoining University of South Australia and business park to target job and training opportunities in the hospitality childcare, aged care and small business sectors. A bustling town centre filled with cafes, restaurants, offices and national retail chains will be the hub for many of these new positions. Mawson Lakes residents can also access business support services, advisory services and online directories. Learn more
