Creating great workplaces around the world

Lend Lease provides cutting-edge commercial office buildings, refurbishments and workplace solutions across the world.

In Australia, we are one of the largest developers, designers and constructors of commercial workspaces. Our innovative, market-leading developments include The Gauge, the first building in Australia to achieve a 6 Green Star Office As Built v2 Certified Rating.  We also delivered 30 The Bond, the country’s first 5 star Green Star office building. We’ve delivered more than $14 billion of commercial office projects in the USA alone, and continue to prove our expertise all across the Americas. In Asia’s fast-growing commercial sector, our iconic projects include the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia and Nokia’s LEED Gold certified campus in China.

In the UK, we’ve created more quality office spaces for developers than all of our competitors. We’ve also consulted on commercial developments for high-profile clients such as BP, HSBC and BT. Across Europe, our many outstanding projects include the award-winning Segreen Business Park in Italy. And in the Middle East, flagship buildings such as the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry Headquarters show why we are regional leaders in commercial office construction.

Our capabilities in the commercial office sector include development management, and project management and construction.  We can partner with our clients to deliver tailor-made solutions at all phases of the development, from initial concept to planning, design, costing, construction and fit out.

From signature buildings to multi-year building refurbishment programs, we leverage our global experience to deliver projects that give our clients a competitive edge.  We’re also committed to sustainability, consistently targeting and winning the highest rating certifications for our office buildings.

The Gauge, Melbourne, Australia

The Gauge, Victoria Harbour, Victoria

We drew on our cross business capabilities to conceive, design, develop and build the Gauge. Lend Lease’s Victorian Headquarters, the Gauge was the first building in Australia to achieve a 6 Green Star Office As Built v2 Certified Rating from the Green Building Council of Australia. It was also the winner of the inaugural Built Environment Award at the Victorian Government’s 2009 Premier’s Sustainability Awards. It’s setting a trend in the Docklands precinct as the first building to achieve VicUrban’s ESD Award of Excellence, which signifies World’s Best Practice in Ecologically Sustainable Development. The building has been funded and is owned by the Lend Lease managed Australian Prime Property Fund (APPF) Commercial.  Learn more

440 South Church Street, Charlotte NC

We provided construction management services for this 15-storey, 393,000 square foot, Class A office building.  The project featured numerous environmentally sustainable components including a 50 per cent (by weight) target for landfill diversion of construction and demolition waste; using low volatile organic compound adhesives; sealants, paints and coatings; and using wood products free of urea formaldehyde based resins.  Learn more

30 The Bond, Sydney, Australia

The Bond

Lend Lease was responsible for the development, project design and construction management of 30 The Bond, Lend Lease’s global headquarters. It was the first office building in Australia to be awarded 5 stars 'As Built' under the Australian Building Greenhouse Rating system and remains an outstanding example of environmental sustainability for commercial buildings. The building produces 30 per cent lower CO2 emissions than a typical office building. This has been achieved through the use of natural ventilation, passive chilled beam cooling and fully operable shading on the facades.  Learn more

Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

We oversaw all development for the Petronas Twin Towers, which was the world’s tallest building at the time. The 40 hectare site includes twin 88-storey towers, office buildings, a retail centre, an arts centre and 2.7 hectares of public parks, gardens and lakes. The first phase of construction included the twin office towers totalling 287,000 square metres, and a 58,420 square metre retail zone with parking and landscaped areas.

Segreen Business Park

Segreen Business Park

Lend Lease provided preconstruction management and management contractor services for this 37,000 square metre office property in Segrate, near Milan’s Linate airport. The redevelopment included the construction of two new office blocks and the refurbishment of four existing buildings. It also incorporated complete on-site services for all tenants, including a food area, nursery and concierge service. Designed by architects Lombardini 22, the LEED-certified business park won the ‘Golden Brick’ RE Real Estate Awards 2010 for Best Sustainable Project.  Learn more

HM Treasury and HM Revenue and Customs

Treasury

We provided construction services for the £262 million refurbishment of these iconic, heritage-listed buildings. The two-phase Private Finance Initiative (PFI) project required radical but  sensitive remodelling of a century-year-old Grade II listed building to create modern workspaces for 3,000 civil servants. Works included the removal of 16 miles of corridor and inter-office walls and demolition of a massive reinforced concrete slab protecting underground cellars that were used as cabinet war rooms during World War 2. All 1,750 of the original wood framed windows were removed, refurbished, fitted with laminated glass and then reinstalled.

We overcame a number of structural challenges to boost usable workspaces by 40 per cent and complete both phases on time and on budget. In 2003, the project was named best design project in the Public Private Finance Awards and won a British Construction Industry Award and a BREEAM Excellent rating.  Learn more
