We’re top of the class in education
We have extensive experience delivering primary, secondary and tertiary education projects in the Americas and Australia. Our projects range from multi-site capital works like the North Carolina Capital Improvements Program, to the kind of large-scale redevelopments we undertook for the University of New South Wales in Sydney.
We have worked with both government and private sector clients to create education facilities that are perfectly tailored for their purpose. The secret to our success is a collaborative approach. We work closely with the client, teachers and students to ensure everyone’s needs are met.
Our understanding of this sector means we can safely and successfully deliver projects in operational environments. This often involves structuring our construction programs around the educational calendar, to maximise activity during holiday periods when students are absent.

Lend Lease has a long track record of delivering successful projects for the University of New South Wales (UNSW). These include the Lowy Cancer Research Centre and the Scientia building. The Lowy Cancer Research Centre is a $94 million development for which we provided project management, design and construction services. The eight level, 16,800 square metre facility is jointly occupied by the University’s Faculty of Medicine and the Children’s Cancer Institute of Australia. It incorporates leading edge sustainability initiatives and meets high technical and scientific requirements for specialised laboratories. We also delivered the Scientia building, a place for ceremonies and spontaneous gathering for the university and the wider community. Exhibition, function and performance spaces are enclosed within a sandstone podium which anchors the building to its site. The development also features an open pedestrian passage flanked by ceremonial rooms and linking to a new public square. The central foyer is a design focal point, featuring a tree-inspired structure, a glass canopy and natural timber interiors.
