At Lend Lease, a commitment to health and safety shapes our values, directs our
decision-making and is the focus of all our business planning.
We aim to lead our health and safety agenda over and above compliance with local legislation, safety standards and other industry requirements. That's why we've established a dedicated Global Safety Leadership Team to enact our Incident & Injury Free vision on sites and in offices around the world.
Our vision is simple—a corporate culture where any incident or injury is an unacceptable outcome. Of course, there are many potential hazards associated with the services we provide and the areas in which we work. But our stakeholders share a common certainty about Lend Lease—that safety always comes first.
We are working hard to continuously improve our health and safety performance by ensuring the principle of safety leadership is firmly embedded in our business through ongoing instruction, information, online and on-site training, and supervision.
We now have clearly defined standards to better identify, assess and manage risks. We have established accountability for the implementation of these standards, and set Key Performance Indicators at all management levels to measure current gaps and pinpoint opportunities for improvement. And we have developed a set of tools to smooth our progress from best intentions to best practice.
We are also working to lead the health and safety agenda in the construction industry more broadly, by fostering the learning and sharing of information and leading practices. BuildSafe—a voluntary code of conduct, which covers 12 areas of minimum safety standards—aims to raise industry awareness and create a safety culture worldwide.
We remain determined to eliminate all incidents and injuries from our organisation.
We believe that every incident is preventable and that all our employees share an obligation to actively integrate Incident & Injury Free into every aspect of their work. We call it the Lend Lease Way for Safety and we apply it across the globe, wherever we have a presence.
