Lend Lease Carbon Disclosure Leadership

Lend Lease Corporation has been included in the Goldman Sachs JBWere "Climate Leadership Index" for the second year running. The influential index recognises our efforts to globally measure and disclose our greenhouse gas emissions.
Organisations on the index are recognised for leadership in managing climate change issues and publicly disclosing emissions. The Carbon Disclosure Project, which collects and assesses key climate change data from more than 1,550 corporations worldwide, represents 385 global institutional investors with combined assets of more than $US57 trillion.
Investors are now considering climate change risks and leadership as essential filters in their investment decisions and company evaluations.
Economic impacts such as rising energy prices, supply chain costs and services, and new regulation including Emissions Trading Schemes will all significantly effect our long-term organisational performance. As a result Lend Lease began a pilot program for the measurement of our greenhouse gas emissions in 2005 in Australia. By November 2006 the project was expanded globally and since then we have been reporting our greenhouse gas emissions and associated risks annually.
Statistics on responses to the Carbon Disclosure Project Questionnaire this year:
- 72% of Australian listed top 100 companies responded this year, an increase of 26% compared to 2007
- 77% of the 500 largest companies in the world (by market capitalisation) responded, 15% responded for the first time.
