Lendlease wins big at the Urban Taskforce Development Excellence Awards

International House Sydney at Barangaroo South won the Development Excellence Award for Sustainable Development, and the Commonwealth Bank at Darling Square was awarded Development Excellence for Commercial Office City Development. 

Rob Deck, Managing Director, Barangaroo South said, “The success of Australia’s first engineered timber office building, International House Sydney, actively demonstrates our commitment to innovation and sustainability.”

“From the outset, Lendlease set challenging sustainability goals for the precinct. Barangaroo South achieved one of Australia’s first 6 Star Green Star Communities PILOT V0.2 ratings and the world’s first WELL Certification for Core & Shell at the Platinum level, the highest certification available.” 

Neil Arckless, Project Director, Darling Square said, “Stitched in to the broader Chinatown and Haymarket precincts, Darling Square is Sydney’s new city neighbourhood combining residential, commercial and retail uses to create a vibrant place for visitors, workers and residents.

“Designed for an agile workplace, Commonwealth Bank Square encourages collaboration amongst workers with a central atrium at its core. It has achieved a 6 Star Green Star design and As Built rating, and is targeting a 5 Star NABERS energy rating.”

International House Sydney, Barangaroo South

Designed by architects Tzannes and Associates, International House Sydney is the first commercial office building in Australia to use engineered timber – Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) and Glue Laminated Timber (Glulam) – as its primary material. Standing at the gateway of Barangaroo, the building is fully tenanted by Accenture, and has a 6 Star Green Star for Office Design and is targeting the same As Built rating.

Commonwealth Bank, Darling Square

Commonwealth Bank’s new office is the only commercial building in Darling Square. Designed by Woods Bagot, it accommodates approximately 3,000 employees, spread across 12 floors. It was designed for activity based working, with a focus on teamwork and fostering innovation.
