Connecting artwork at Barangaroo

The Lendlease Art Advisory Panel has announced a permanent public artwork for the precinct, created by German artist, Sabine Hornig. Titled, “Shadows”, the piece will be installed across a walkway that connects the three International Towers.

This “through site link” features Hornig’s photographic images of local Sydney flora layered on transparent glass walls, which will form interactive reflections of beautiful iridescent shadows on passersby’s faces and bodies.

“Pedestrians will become participants in the art as they will literally walk through the imagery,” explained Sabine Hornig.

For inspiration, Hornig spent time in and around Sydney amidst nature. This experience translated into dreamlike shadows and reflections of our native bush that are brought together to create a path of discovery.

“This work will form part of the wider body of public artworks and cultural programs planned for Barangaroo South.” said Annie Tennant, General Manager, Sustainability and Culture, Barangaroo South.

The artwork is due to be completed by the end of 2018.
