GRADUATE OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN CORPORATE FUNCTIONS

Jake - "My skills as a law graduate will often come into play, so contract drafting and review is not out of the ordinary."

1. What project are you currently working on?

The project that I am currently working on includes helping the businesses to identify, quantify and mitigate uncertainties in their operations. Once we know what the risk landscape is or how it’s affecting the businesses we can then develop risk mitigation strategies to manage those risks. This may include structuring and purchasing insurance programs.

2. What are your day to day activities?

My day to day activities will vary depending on the needs of the business. My skills as a law graduate will often come into play, so contract drafting and review is not out of the ordinary. Most recently, I had the opportunity to negotiate and draft terms for a national water supply and financial consultancy agreement. I have also had the chance to partake in investigations, risk analysis and stakeholder engagement as part of Lendlease’s global procurement strategy.

3. What are 1-2 things you wish you knew before you started?

Do not underestimate your ideas! Graduates are often able to identify blind spots and inefficiencies due to the fresh perspective we bring to an organisation.

Explore all opportunities, you never know where they may lead.

4. What has been the most rewarding professional experience since joining Lendlease?

Since joining Lendlease I have had the privilege to be mentored by some incredible business leaders. This has led to many career-defining moments including the opportunity to manage a small team of paralegals to assist our internal audit team with an investigation. Aside from this, my greatest professional achievement to date would be delivering a presentation to the Lendlease Board.

Rob - "I am constantly learning and developing as a person and it will put me in the best possible position professionally."

1. What project are you currently working on?

I’m currently working on creating a digital online portal that will house all data for a project in interactive visuals. It’s a great team and I’m learning a lot!

2. What are your day to day activities?

My daily activities involve running scrum meetings at the start of each day, running planning and retrospective sessions, data modelling and portal design.

3. What are 1-2 things you wish you knew before you started?

I learn more in a week than I ever learnt at university! With so many different aspects of the projects I am learning about things that I never even thought about. It might seem like a daunting first day at work, but everyone is so friendly and happy to help you out!

4. What has been the most rewarding professional experience since joining Lendlease?

The most rewarding experience has been the different situations I have encountered through the multiple graduate program rotations. In the past year, I have gone from learning and practicing presenting skills to running daily meetings for a large IT project. The differences in these professional environments has meant that I am constantly learning and developing as a person and it will put me in the best possible position professionally when I finish the two year program.
