Investing in bright minds and ideas

As part of Lendlease’s Place Insights Brief industry research collaboration, we’ve established a research partnership with the University of Sydney to explore the ideas of tomorrow.

The University of Sydney’s Dalyell scholars stream, a program of study and academic enrichment activities available to high achievers, used Lendlease’s Place Insights Brief as a case study for their Innovation in Organisations course.

Our Place Futures team briefed the cohort on global megatrends and potential challenges for the future of our sector for them to research and develop innovation pitches, which they presented back to the Lendlease Place Futures.

There were several key themes that emerged from the student presentations, including the use of blockchain technologies in supply chains and project management, diversion from landfill through smart waste management, spearheading the circular economy through greater use of recycled
and reused materials, better assessing buildings for adaptive reuse, supporting mental health for workers, and designing spaces better for neurodiversity.

The Pitches

Pioneering Placemaking with Green Tech AI tools and catalogues for recycled/reused material to use in our developments and building construction, focused on wellbeing and social benefit in design.

Turning the Tables Partnership with furniture recycling organisation to improve circular economy in our developments and assets, and for the benefit of our tenants.

Enviro Tech AI enabled pneumatic disposal chutes to support waste reduction and avoid contamination, with the aim to achieve 100% waste diversion from landfill.

Transforming Health and Safety on Construction Sites Opt-in, custom wearable device for site workers to support safety, physical and mental health, and overall wellbeing.

Autism-Friendly Workplaces A new standard for design to respond to neurodiverse workers and precinct users including lighting, sound, and crowding considerations.

Waste Management in the Supply Chain Permissioned blockchain for supply chain management, providing instantaneous information and planning tools, avoiding human error, improving accountability, and allowing for rich data capture.
