Meet your Eco-Concierge: Jess, One O’Connell
What are you most excited about in your new role as Eco-Concierge?
I'm looking forward to meeting people from different backgrounds who want to do their part in creating a positive impact on people and the planet.
What made you want to have a career in sustainability?
In high school, my dream job was to be a wildlife conservationist. I love animals, so I wanted to be part of the movement to save endangered species. In university, I took the Urban Citizenship and Sustainability class, which was the turning point for me. We learned about the issue of waste in the urban environment, and that sparked something in me. From that day, I wanted to help the collective society do better for our environment.
How do you work towards a more sustainable workplace each day?
I do this by having conversations about sustainability with other colleagues in the office outside of the Sustainability team. I enjoy finding cross-sections of how sustainability can be injected or influenced.
What would be your dream sustainability project to work on?
I would love to work on an engagement program to educate and mobilise others to behave and make decisions that positively impact our environment.
What do you think the future of sustainability looks like?
I hope we live in a world where we have found innovative solutions to reuse resources as much as possible and are seeing a shift in thinking about what is considered ‘waste’.
