More of what matters: Four ways we’re collaborating to deliver sustainable, climate-resilient workplaces

  • 25 Mar 2025
At Lendlease, we’re creating workplaces that deliver social and environmental sustainability. Inspired by our industry-leading targets, including reaching Absolute Zero by 2040 across Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions without the use of offsets, we’re reimagining workplaces to deliver better outcomes for our tenants, the wider community and of course, the planet.

In a recent panel discussion at Climate Action Week Sydney, our team explored how these aspirations are driving innovation and collaboration across the workplace value chain.

Here are our four key insights from the conversations.

1. A new era in sustainable workplace developments
Working hand-in-hand with progressive tenants and asset owners helps push the boundaries of what’s possible

Example: Singtel Comcentre redevelopment

We work with our tenants, owners and investment partners to push the boundaries of sustainable workplace development. A prime example is the redevelopment of Singtel's Comcentre headquarters in Singapore, which is set to become the country’s first end-to-end carbon neutral workplace across design, construction and operations.

The building’s design incorporates best-in-class energy performance, including a super high efficiency dual-temperature chiller plant with active chilled beams, expected to deliver energy efficiency of more than 50 per cent compared to a 2021 baseline, and achieve net-zero energy through innovative low emission technologies, onsite and offsite renewables.

2. Demand for lower embodied carbon materials in our supply chain
Supply chain partnerships and innovative tools are key to tackling Scope 3 emissions

Example: Lendlease Embodied Carbon Advisor tool

Reducing embodied carbon is critical to achieving Absolute Zero by 2040. To support this, we developed the Lendlease Embodied Carbon Advisor (LECA) tool for use early in the project origination phase.

Based on project timing and key project attributes, LECA helps our project teams set and deliver project-specific embodied carbon targets. It also suggests design interventions and a procurement roadmap for materials like concrete, steel and façades to achieve the ambition.

LECA is helping Lendlease deliver low embodied carbon workplaces, achieve our decarbonisation targets, and send a clear demand signal to our supply chain for innovative low- or zero-carbon products.

3. Sustainability partnerships with tenants
Tenants value meaningful partnerships that help navigate the complexities of achieving  environmental and social sustainability goals

Example: Eco-Concierge tenant service

Looking beyond base building sustainability credentials, we help tenants take meaningful action in their workplaces. Eco-Concierge is a service exclusive to tenants designed to support their aspirations to improve energy, water and waste efficiency.

A true partnership between Lendlease and our tenants, Eco-Concierge provides:

  • Personalised guidance to enhance workplace sustainability
  • 24/7 access to resources to support tenant sustainability goals
  • Quarterly forums for knowledge sharing and best practice insights
  • With more than 100 tenants already engaged, Eco-Concierge is supporting them to further improve the sustainability performance of their workplaces.

4. Workplaces designed to create social value
Truly holistic sustainability solutions consider both environmental and social outcomes to create long-term value

Example: Two Good Co. collaboration

At Lendlease, we’re committed to creating social value through strategic partnerships and community initiatives. A prime example is our collaboration with Two Good Co., a social enterprise supporting women with lived experience of domestic violence and homelessness.

Since 2020, we've incorporated Two Good Co.'s products and services into our workplaces, including hand soaps and pop-up marketplaces, providing employment opportunities for vulnerable women.

At our upcoming Vic X Tower in North Sydney, Two Good Co. will operate the lobby cafe, in-house catering and concierge services.

Two Good Co. are also recent recipients of our Workplaces with Impact Grant, a partnership in making a significant impact in the lives of people in our communities.

Through these collaborations, we aim to create workplace experiences that delight tenants while also contributing positively to society, aligning with our commitment to foster communities where everyone can thrive.
