Lendlease announced preferred partner on quantum computer facilities in Brisbane
- 19 Mar 2025
Brisbane, 19 March 2025: Lendlease has been selected by leading quantum computing company, PsiQuantum, to be the preferred construction partner to deliver the facilities that will house the world’s first commercial-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computer in Brisbane.
To be operated by PsiQuantum, the project is set to position Australia at the forefront of the rapidly-emerging sector of quantum technology.
The state-of-the-art facility, spanning more than 100,000 square metres, will house an advanced new generation of computing.
Quantum computing leverages the principles of quantum mechanics to perform calculations on specialised hardware to solve complex problems that are considered to be beyond the capabilities of supercomputers or AI.
It is expected to drive transformational breakthroughs across industries such as healthcare, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, energy, security, and food production, accelerating progress in AI, new medicines, and the transition to net zero.
Construction is expected to commence later in 2025 and be completed by the end of 2027.
“This project builds on Lendlease’s deep expertise in delivering high-security national infrastructure, including data centres. Our proven capability in managing high-tech environments means we are uniquely positioned to bring this pioneering quantum facility to life.”
“Building the world’s first utility-scale computer isn’t just about advanced technology—it also requires the right infrastructure. Our Brisbane facility will be the first of its kind, and partnering with Lendlease ensures it will meet the rigorous standards needed to house and operate this system. This collaboration is a critical step toward turning useful quantum computing from an ambitious idea into a deployed reality.”
