Lendlease delivers first for construction industry

  • 24 Feb 2020
The certification covers all diesel, petrol, natural gas and electricity used onsite, as well as the disposal of waste generated between site establishment through to project completion. To reach carbon neutral, Lendlease implemented energy efficiency initiatives on site, calculated all emissions produced from fuel and energy use and purchased carbon credits to offset those emissions.

Monash University’s Woodside Building for Technology and Design is targeting the internationally-recognised Passive House standard and will be one of the most energy efficient large-scale commercial buildings in the southern hemisphere.

This achievement comes after Lendlease’s Barangaroo South recently claimed the title of Australia’s first Climate Active certified carbon neutral precinct.

In mid-2019, Lendlease’s Australian Building business became one of Australia’s first carbon neutral constructors. This was achieved by adopting low carbon building practices and offsetting all remaining FY19 construction emissions reported under the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Act (2007).

Lendlease currently provides a carbon neutral construction service for all projects nationally, based on reportable emissions, and can work with clients to gain independent certification of this achievement for their projects.
