- 17 Mar 2021
Fort Hood Family Housing in Fort Hood, Texas, and Tierra Vista Communities in Colorado Springs, Colo. and San Pedro, Calif. named finalists for the prestigious industry award
(Nashville, Tenn., March 17, 2021)
Lendlease today announced that two of its privatized military housing communities have been named finalists in the National Apartment Association’s (NAA) Military Community of the Year awards. Fort Hood Family Housing in Fort Hood, Texas, and Tierra Vista Communities in Colorado Springs, Colo. and San Pedro, Calif. were selected as finalists based on a rigorous and competitive submission. Evaluation is based on a number of factors, including community's service to residents, impact on the local community, unique resident retention strategies and financial performance.
“At Lendlease, it’s our mission to provide homes where our military service members and their families can live, work and thrive. From the homes themselves, to our community amenities and resident engagement, we pride ourselves on fully meeting the unique needs of today’s military families,” said Lendlease Communities Managing Director Carolyn Tregarthen. “I am incredibly proud of the Fort Hood Family Housing and Tierra Vista Communities teams for their commitment to our residents; it is an honor to be recognized by NAA for our efforts.”
Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, both Fort Hood Family Housing and Tierra Vista Communities found ways to keep residents safe and engaged during this unprecedented time. Community leadership organized a variety of virtual and socially-distanced events like baby showers, food drives and holiday celebrations to maintain a sense of community, even when traditional in-person gatherings were not possible. Fort Hood Family Housing also implemented an eleven-member Resident Advisory Board (RAB), a program designed to positively affect the quality of life for families at Fort Hood and enhance customer service by allowing important residential issues to be brought directly to Lendlease.
In addition to this year’s finalist recognition, in 2016, Tierra Vista Communities was named NAA’s Community of the Year, and the Best Community in the Military Housing Specialty category; and in 2015, Fort Hood Family Housing was named a NAA Paragon Award winner in the specialty-military category.
As part of its commitment to listening to residents and ensuring communities meet the unique needs of today’s military service members and their families, Lendlease also participates in the SatisFacts Insite 365 Day / Year Resident Feedback program, in which residents provide community and home feedback in an easy, safe and comfortable environment. In 2020, Lendlease was recognized by SatisFacts for its high resident satisfaction scores, with nearly 92% of neighborhoods being named survey award winners.
This year’s NAA winners will be announced at the virtual awards ceremony on June 16, 2021. Learn more about Lendlease’s Communities business here.
