Wominjeka to Gurrowa Place

Gurrowa Place is on the land of the Wurundjeri Woiwurrung people of the Kulin Nation. We acknowledge and pay respects to their Elders, past and present. We are committed to ensuring our activities support their ongoing connection to their land, waters, cultures, languages and traditions.

In the language of the Wurundjeri Woiwurrung people, ‘Gurrowa’ means a place of exchange and interchange – being reflective of the purpose of the market and the vision of the urban renewal project. It has long been a place to connect and share food, culture and experiences. And now, it will also become a place to inspire businesses for the future.

Lendlease are committed to honouring the site’s heritage, working closely with Wurundjeri Elders and partners on the precinct’s design which draws inspiration from a time before Melbourne. Gurrowa Place creates a visionary development proposal for this significant site.
