This Christmas, Macarthur Square is introducing a heart-warming initiative that embodies the true spirit of the season.

Introducing, The Giving Machine. Far from a standard vending machine filled with chips and soft drinks, this limited-time installation offers an opportunity for customers to make a meaningful impact within the community. With a simple tap of a card, users can provide essential items such as warm meals, medical care, or educational support to individuals and families in need.

Introducing the Giving Machine

Now located near JB Hi-Fi at Macarthur Square, The Giving Machine introduces a new style of festive giving. Customers can explore a menu of impactful donations, select an item, and watch as a card representing their contribution drops into the machine. This interactive experience transforms traditional charity into a visual and tangible act, enhancing the donation journey.

With donation amounts ranging from $5 to $200, the initiative is designed to suit a variety of budgets, encouraging participation from all those who are able to give.

 Partnering with purpose

The Giving Machine collaborates with leading local and international charities, including Foodbank NSW, Givit, The Smith Family, CareFlight, Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation, and UNICEF Australia. Each organisation has identified key items to ensure donations have the greatest possible impact on vulnerable communities.

As part of the global Light the World campaign, which has raised over $50 million since 2017, The Giving Machine is proof of how simple gestures of generosity can bring communities together.

Every donation made is 100% tax-deductible, with no hidden fees or overheads. A convenient QR code on the machine allows customers to receive a receipt directly to their phone.

The spirit of the season

Running until 27 December, The Giving Machine offers a meaningful way for customers to embrace the essence of the Christmas period. Beyond its immediate impact, it serves as a valuable teaching moment, encouraging families to involve children in the act of giving and fostering a deeper understanding of the power of generosity.

Through this initiative, Macarthur Square has encouraged customers to reflect on what the season is truly about: hope, connection, and community.
