At Lendlease, the safety and security of our retailers, staff and customers is paramount. That’s why we’re excited to announce our new partnership with People First Fire, Australia’s first national Indigenous fire safety company. Together, we’re implementing innovative safety solutions across our centres to enhance emergency preparedness and response.

Who are People First Fire?

People First Fire sets the standard in fire and life safety in Australia. Our partnership with this organisation reinforces our commitment to creating a safe environment where your business, staff and customers thrive.

People First Fire is a First Nations-owned business founded by twin brothers Jason and Grant Hardy, from the Ualarai and Ngemba nations of Western New South Wales.

Jason and Grant are both professional firefighters, each with more than 17 years of experience. They have used this frontline experience to develop training programs that provide their clients with the best preparation and readiness to respond to any emergency.

Here’s how the company stands out:

• People First Fire is a First Nations-led business that has built a strong network of Indigenous and non-Indigenous professional emergency response personnel, enabling it to offer a full suite of fire safety and emergency training.

• People First Fire also has strong partnerships with Queensland Investment Corporation, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and has assisted with the Northern Rivers flood recovery and pioneered emergency evacuation procedures in Australia.

• It has a national footprint for multi-site servicing. This means that it offers consistent support across all our centres.

• People First Fire offers tailored emergency response training specific to each centre, which ensures that your safety procedures are relevant and actionable to your centre.

• Access to industry-leading fire safety solutions means we get the latest advice and technology and fast, reliable support when needed.

Why People First Fire?

Industry-leading training: This October / November, we are rolling out emergency training across our centres, delivered directly by People First Fire’s team of experienced, decorated fire and emergency experts. The site-specific training ensures that everyone working in our centres will feel confident in handling emergency situations.

E-learning for All: We are introducing People First Fire’s Video E-learning technology, which is designed to increase emergency awareness and preparedness. It’s an accessible and engaging way to gain confidence and equip everyone at our centres with the knowledge they need to stay safe.

Innovative evacuation technology: We’re proud to be early adopters of R U Out technology, which streamlines evacuation processes and provides real-time notifications to keep you, your team and your customers informed and safe during emergencies.

People First Fire has a range of other technologies and initiatives that we will consider in the future to support our commitment to making continuous advancements in fire safety with the best available technology. 

What this means for Lendlease Retailers

By integrating People First Fire’s emergency response expertise with the R U OUT app, we can streamline large-scale evacuations. The app offers real-time communication between fire wardens, facility managers and emergency responders, enabling faster and safer evacuations, reducing injuries and business downtime.

R U OUT provides various benefits, including remote management, QR code-based communication, real-time reporting and simplified incident management, which can save time and costs. It’s been designed for use in settings such as shopping centres, so is the perfect tool for our centres.
