Sustainability Framework & Targets

Sustainability is core to our planning and clear in our outcomes. We demonstrate our sustainability aspirations in the assessment and selection of the projects and investments we choose to pursue, and in how we identify, manage and respond to the sustainability challenges they present. All our projects and investments are guided by a robust sustainability strategy, which is aligned to our Sustainability Framework, and a climate related risk assessment.

Informed by consultation with our investors, clients, employees and stakeholders, our Sustainability Framework was reviewed and updated in 2019.

Our sustainability imperatives

Our Sustainability Framework prioritises both
environmental and social focus areas under three
global imperatives:

Our environmental focus areas

Our social focus areas

Sustainability Targets

Our two sustainability targets are the measurable objectives that complete our Framework
At Lendlease, our carbon targets aim to help avoid the worst impacts of climate change by limiting global warming to 1.5°C. We are targeting Net Zero Carbon by 2025 across Scope 1 & 2 emissions and Absolute Zero Carbon by 2040 across Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, within the Lendlease defined boundaries and without the use of offsets. Our targets have been validated by the Science Based Target initiative as being line with a 1.5°C trajectory.

We have also set a target to create A$250 million of measured social value by 2025 through the work of our corporate shared value partnerships, above and beyond any project or asset obligations.

Our Sustainability Framework is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

Lendlease has reviewed each SDG to assess its alignment with the Lendlease Sustainability Framework and our core business activities. We’ve identified 12 goals that are directly relevant to our daily operations and where we have the greatest opportunity to influence change and generate positive outcomes.

We support the ten principles of the United Nations Global Compact

Lendlease supports the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption. Our annual Communication on Progress provides a report on the actions we’ve taken to further improve the integration of the Global Compact and its principles into our business strategy, sustainability imperatives and the way we work.
