At Lendlease we go above and beyond what is expected when it comes to making a difference in the communities where we live and work. Our long-standing commitment to make a positive impact is one of the hallmarks of Lendlease, expressed in the words of our founder Dick Dusseldorp in 1973: “Companies must start to justify their worth to society, with greater emphasis placed on environmental and social impact rather than just straight economics.”
In 2020, Lendlease announced an ambitious social value target, to
create $250 million (AUD) of social value by 2025 through
our shared-valued partnerships, beyond any project or asset obligations. We will continue to establish and foster these partnerships and community engagement initiatives, via support from our Lendlease Foundation.
Our target reflects our strong commitment to make a positive impact on people’s lives by improving their quality of life, supporting health and wellbeing, providing economic opportunities, improving the local
environment, and building resilient and thriving communities.
Engaging the Community
To create social value across the regions in which Lendlease operates globally, we are partnering with like-minded, not-for-profit, community organisations, whose work aligns to the Lendlease Foundation constitution and value pillars and supports the objectives of the Lendlease Sustainability Framework focus areas.
The Lendlease Foundation supports a number of Flagship Programs with global reach, including Community Day, Springboard and our 10-year partnership with the Great Barrier Reef Foundation. Lendlease is also partnering with community organisations to help to combat homelessness and housing stress through FutureSteps.
In addition to these programs, a number of other shared-value partnerships, actions and initiatives have been established in each of our operating regions.
