Lendlease Funds Management has become one of the first signatories to launch Climate League 2030, supporting and acting to deliver deeper emissions reductions in Australia. The initiative is being coordinated by the global Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC), of which we’re a member.
Climate League 2030 is a new 10-year, private sector-focused initiative and its initial participants are 16 institutional investors with over $850 billion collective Australian assets under management.
Climate League 2030 asks participants to support efforts to drive a further reduction in annual greenhouse gas emissions of at least 230 million tonnes on top of what is already projected for the end of the decade, and pledge at least one new action each year under three themes:
- Integration of Paris-aligned emissions reduction goals into investment policies or business strategies.
- Collaboration between investors, clients and companies to deliver emission reductions.
- Investment in new clean energy, clean technology and other projects and measures that reduce Australian emissions.
Joining Climate League 2030 is further proof of our commitment to sustainability. We've long held a belief that sustainable buildings and precincts create healthier outcomes for both the planet and people, alongside financial returns. In supporting Lendlease's new sustainability targets, as a 1.5ºC aligned investment manager we aim to tackle climate change head on while delivering stakeholder value and honouring a strong sustainability legacy.
