Lendlease are excited to announce that we have Birmingham City Council’s cabinet approval to enter a Joint-Venture partnership on the redevelopment of Smithfield. As a business we are committed to Birmingham, as a unique, diverse and thriving place that will play a vital role in the national levelling up agenda.

This £1.9bn redevelopment project has captured the imagination of the local community and international investors alike.
We are pleased to be working alongside Birmingham City Council and look forward to collaborating on our shared aim to achieve net zero carbon, by 2025 and 2030 respectively. Together we will ensure that the transformation of Birmingham city centre will be truly sustainable and deliver the facilities and features that matter most to the local communities.
Speaking about Smithfield, Bek Seeley, Lendlease’s Managing Director for Development in Europe, said: “This is an important step forwards for a project that will provide remarkable opportunities for future generations of residents and businesses in Birmingham.
“A great deal of work has already been carried out to get the project to this stage and we’re looking forward to being able to share ideas and collaborate with the wider community to bring to life this fantastic centre piece for Birmingham’s future.”

- A new home for Birmingham’s historic Bull Ring Markets.
- A unique family destination that includes leisure and cultural facilities.
- A new public square.
- Integrated public transport.
- More than 2,000 homes, with a public park and community facilities.
