In November, Claremont Hall was featured on the CBS architecture series 'America ByDesign: Architecture' which showcases American architectural innovation, ingenuity and design excellence. Premiering first on CBS Streaming, the series will broadcast on CBS in February 2023 on Saturday nights.

‘America ByDesign: Architecture’ features select architecture, interior and landscape design projects from across the country. Each episode highlights three to four of these projects, emphasizing the unique design process and the positive impact of good design.

At the conclusion of each episode, a judging deliberation comprised of America’s top architects and design industry leaders, including Lendlease’s Scott Walsh, chooses one or more properties to go through to the final episode.

In the episode featuring Claremont Hall (Season 1, Episode 2), Paul Whalen, partner of the building’s architecture firm Robert A.M. Stern Architects, explained to viewers how the residential tower’s refined craftsmanship and Gothic Revival architecture seamlessly integrates into the historic neighborhood and urban fabric of Morningside Heights and the Union Theological Seminary (UTS) campus, a 180-year-old center of theological education.

Paul Whalen describes Claremont Hall’s remarkable setting, “To be able to live in a tower on the acropolis of New York is an extraordinary thing indeed."

During the building tour, Paul spoke to the intricate façade details, custom interior design features in the kitchen and primary bathroom and the expansive views of Manhattan’s Upper West Side, including the Hudson River, Central Park, Riverside Park and Columbia University. The tour ends on a high note with a visit to Union Theological Seminary’s former Refectory to showcase how the impressive double-height room will be fully restored and reimagined as the building’s swimming pool and entertaining space.

Opening in 2023, Claremont Hall is a new residential tower ascending 41 stories above the Union Theological Seminary campus. Earlier this year, condominium sales launched with Corcoran Sunshine Marketing Group leading exclusive sales and marketing.

To develop the project, Lendlease partnered with LMXD, an affiliate of L + M Development Partners, and Daiwa House Texas Inc. to build the 354,000 square foot mixed-use building that includes 165 condominium residences and 54,000 square feet of UTS academic space. Designed as a sustainable building, Claremont Hall aims to meet the U.S. Green Building Council standards for LEED Gold Certification.
