How to make a difference in something you believe

The Lendlease Foundation Community Grant program is an initiative available to all Lendlease employees to help the communities and charities in which they are actively involved or of which they are passionate supporters.

To support organizations responding to social and environmental crises, Lendlease employees can apply for a grant through an application form. Exactly what Project Manager Marco Di Russo did to help the non-profit association Strawberry Fields Onlus, an organization that operates in Ethiopia to develop primary needs, fight malnutrition, enhance education services and facilities. In the first 8 years of activity, the association supported more than 2,000 children and contributed to the construction of small schools and support centres.

Thanks to Marco and to the Lendlease Foundation, excavations officially began for the construction of the new structure (about 300 square meters), which Strawberry Fields undertakes to finance within the St. John II Reception Center in Areka, in Ethiopia, 300 km southwest of Addis Ababa, to provide ever more life-saving therapies and ensure a tomorrow for malnourished children.

The amount donated by Lendlease contributes to the huge work necessary for the construction from the excavation of the foundations, to the masonry construction of the entire structure, from the installation of the iron and glass windows to the installation of the sheet metal roof, the ceilings, the bathroom fixtures and toilet coverings.

Poter fare la differenza per qualcosa in cui si crede

Il programma Lendlease Foundation Community Grant è un’iniziativa a disposizione di tutti i dipendenti EUR Lendlease per aiutare le comunità e gli enti di beneficenza in cui sono attivamente coinvolti o di cui sono appassionati supporter.

Per sostenere enti che rispondono alle crisi sociali e ambientali, i dipendenti di Lendlease possono richiedere una sovvenzione attraverso un form di candidatura. Esattamente ciò che ha fatto il Project Manager Marco Di Russo per contribuire ad aiutare l’associazione no profit Strawberry Fields Onlus, organizzazione che opera in Etiopia per sviluppare bisogni primari, combattere la malnutrizione, potenziare i servizi e le strutture per l’istruzione. Nei primi 8 anni di attività l’associazione ha supportato più di 2000 bambini e contribuito alla costruzione di piccole scuole e centri di supporto.

E così, anche grazie a Marco e alla Lendlease Foundation sono iniziati ufficialmente gli scavi per la costruzione della nuova struttura (di circa 300 mq), che Strawberry Fields si impegna a finanziare all’interno del Centro di accoglienza San Giovanni II ad Areka, in Etiopia, a 300 km a sud-ovest di Addis Abeba, per fornire sempre più terapie salvavita e assicurare un domani ai bambini malnutriti.

La cifra donata da Lendlease contribuisce agli ingenti lavori necessari per la costruzione dallo scavo delle fondamenta, per l’edificazione in muratura dell’intera struttura, la posa dei serramenti in ferro con vetro, la posa del tetto in lamiera, dei soffitti, dei sanitari e dei rivestimenti dei servizi igienici.
