Lendlease Australia responds to The Australian article

Sydney, 29 January 2020: The Australian today published an article on activities at the NorthConnex project (Alarm at unlicensed tradies, apprentices on $3bn toll road). Namely, it suggests apprentices were working unsupervised, theft had occurred on the site and that the site was unsafe.

Lendlease rejects these allegations. The Joint Venture ensures all workers have the necessary qualifications and permits to carry out their duties on the project, and that any required supervision is provided in accordance with industry legislation.

Further, any theft or other illegal activity on the NorthConnex project, or any of our projects, is immediately reported to the appropriate authorities for action.

Finally, safety is our number one priority. Internal safety inspections are carried out on a weekly basis at minimum and access for SafeWork New South Wales inspections provided in the weeks beginning 06/01/2020 and 13/01/2020.
