Project outcome

Lendlease was engaged by B. Braun to provide project management services for an upgrade to a production factory in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. This factory manufactures a particular kind of product, and this extension work will enable process antisepsis to be introduced as the end-stage of finished products. Lendlease was retained at the contractor selection stage and provided total project management services. In the initial stages of the project, Lendlease reviewed and proposed VE (value engineering) options for the implementation drawings prepared by Daikin Applied Systems, based on our extensive construction and pharmaceutical facility experience. As a result, a cost reduction was achieved and we ensured the project was successfully delivered by selecting equipment suitable for a factory operating with a clean room. In the construction phase, Lendlease provided support services in ordering, contracting and payment as a project manager.

Throughout the project, Lendlease coordinated approvals through all the related parties including the headquarters in Germany, reporting monthly to the management on schedule and budget. As a result, the project was completed successfully without any negative impact on cost or delivery schedule of steel products which were critical issues.
