Lendlease scoops UDIA awards

  • 22 Mar 2018
According to the UDIA, the President’s Award means Barangaroo has been selected as the “best-of-the-best”.

UDIA National President Darren Cooper said: “Barangaroo South is not just a worthy winner because of its many innovations and areas of excellence across multiple categories; it’s for its excellence and innovation across every category imaginable.

“This project takes its rightful place as a city-transforming initiative which will be a  guiding light for its approaches to sustainability and innovation for generations to come.”

Barangaroo South also won the UDIA’s Environmental Excellence award, reflecting Lendlease’s commitment to developing next generation workplaces for our people, tenants and investors.

In addition, development partners Lendlease and LandCorp shared the honors for Residential Development, winning the award for their joint Alkimos Beach residential development in Western Australia.

Better performing buildings, in environmental and social terms, deliver a number of benefits to investors and tenants, including more productive workplaces and precincts that generate greater value for all.

Upon completion, Barangaroo South will become home to around 2,000 residents, a next-generation office space for 23,000 workers and house more than 80 retail outlets. In addition, over 50 per cent of the precinct will be open public spaces for all to enjoy.

Quotes to be attributed to Kylie Rampa, CEO Lendlease Property

“Winning a trifecta of awards is testimony to the talent of our people across our business.

“The President’s and Environmental awards recognise Barangaroo South as a successful and dynamic precinct that helps confirm Sydney’s position as one of the world’s truly great cities.

“Big and complex projects don’t happen without involving thousands of people and working in close partnership with government.

“Barangaroo South has also provided a rare opportunity to explore and innovate with new products, systems and methodologies – from sustainability to safety, design to delivery.

“This includes important initiatives such as the Barangaroo Skills Exchange (BSX) which has seen more than 10,000 workers gain more than 20,000 accredited training outcomes.

“We are seeing more and more investment in sustainable assets like Barangaroo and Alkimos.”
