Lendlease Celebrates Safety Week 2018
- 7 May 2018
“Safety Week provides an opportunity to celebrate safety and reinforces our commitment to making sure everyone goes home to their loved ones each and every day,” said James Mooney, Head of Safety, Lendlease Americas. “The construction industry is very competitive, but during Safety Week, the industry acts as one to collectively demonstrate that we are unified when it comes to the power of safety.”
Safety Week’s mission is to raise awareness of the construction industry’s continuing objective to eliminate work place injury and its shared culture of care and concern, thereby ensuring that every week is Safety Week. That’s why more than 80 national and global construction firms comprising The Construction Industry Safety (CISI) group and the Incident and Injury Free CEO (IIF) Forum have joined forces with a single aim: to inspire everyone in the industry to be leaders in safety.
Throughout Safety Week 2018, Lendlease and its subcontractors will be engaging employees in enhanced safety training and awareness activities including equipment demonstrations, health and wellness screenings, educational sessions, certifications, reorientations, exercise sessions and recognition lunches. Driven by a company culture focused on going beyond mere compliance with statutory and industry safety minimum requirements, Lendlease is committed to only work on projects where we can deliver our Global Minimum Requirements (GMRs) for safety. These GMRs establish a framework of guidelines designed to control the key risks associated with our construction operations. Our GMRs surpass industry safety standards and are essential to our long term success in creating the best places.
