20180713 Lendlease to deliver full Gawler Rail Electrification

The first stage of the project between Adelaide and Salisbury is already being delivered by Lendlease, with detailed design work currently underway to now incorporate the full rail line to Gawler. 

Once complete the electrified line will provide increased capacity on one of Adelaide’s busiest rail lines and provide train commuters with a faster, cleaner and more reliable service. 

The scope of works for Stage Two of the upgrade includes:

• electrification of the Gawler rail line and Dry Creek Railcar Depot; 
• replacement of the signalling system (including Automatic Track Protection provision); 
• construction of an electricity feeder station at Kilburn; and 
• pedestrian level crossing enhancements; and fencing of the rail corridor for improved safety. 

Lendlease’s track record in South Australia stretches back 70 years and today includes projects such as the Northern Connector Project, Air 7000 at Edinburgh Air Force Base, ANI Osborne South Shipyard and Blakes Crossing. Past projects include all phases of the Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide Oval, Flinders at Tonsley and the Southern Expressway Duplication project.
