Jem wins bizSAFE Partner award for the fifth consecutive year
- 13 Feb 2020
Jenny Khoo, Head of Asset Operations (Singapore), Lendlease said, “At Lendlease, we constantly challenge our performance and push the boundaries so that our approach to Health and Safety (H&S) remains effective and fit for purpose for the sectors and markets in which we operate. We believe everyone has the right to go home safely, and are committed to the health and safety of all who interact with a Lendlease place. To be recognised yet again at the annual bizSAFE awards is testament to the hard work of our staff and partners to further enhance the robustness of our H&S Strategic Direction.”
In 2019, Jem employed the use of an H&S reporting system and app to perform pre-start verification checks prior to the commencement of works. Previously, pre-start checks were manually documented. The app records and tracks issues for verification and analysis, allowing workers to report events and send notifications in real-time.
The safety approach and culture at Jem also requires all employees and service providers to understand Lendlease safety standards and responsibilities. This empowers everyone to collaboratively make informed decisions and observations towards eliminating and preventing workplace incidents and injuries.
Lendlease’s contractors are required to maintain a minimal bizSAFE level 3 certification to qualify for projects at its managed malls. Lendlease also works closely with its retailers to elevate their bizSAFE status further, including guiding new tenants’ bizSAFE applications to encourage further participation in the safety journey.
Lendlease regularly engages contractors, staff and members of the public through educational tours, best practices presentations and encouragement to participate in relevant seminars, talks, briefings and workshops organised by qualified workplace safety & health providers.
bizSAFE was launched in 2007 as a program designed to help companies build workplace safety and health (WSH) capabilities to achieve quantum improvements in safety and health standards at the workplace.
