Lendlease launches People Places Planet

At Lendlease, sustainability is about creating better places for people today and for generations to come. Through the portal, students and industry peers alike will be able to see that vision come to life at PLQ and observe its role as a catalyst in the transformation of Paya Lebar Central into a dynamic and vibrant business and lifestyle precinct. They will also get the opportunity to study a real-life example of how design thinking comes into play, and gain insights into Lendlease’s placemaking and sustainability approach. 
 
The People Places Planet experience portal, designed as an interactive website resource, will offer an engaging learning experience complemented by the use of animation, videos and interactive components. Lendlease consultants involved in the building of PLQ also contributed their insights around their respective roles and their thinking in design. 

Through its community development planning process, Lendlease identified that schools in Singapore were interested in applied learning opportunities that offer hands-on, experiential learning for students and allow them to situate and apply their knowledge in a real-world context. 

Lendlease developed learning materials applicable to the sustainability learning track referencing the Design and Technology syllabus of Singapore’s secondary schools. The case studies hosted on the platform are also aligned with the design process model taught in Singapore schools. The provision of worksheets on the portal will also allow educators to gauge students’ understanding of topics.

Additionally, the online portal functions as a knowledge-sharing tool for the wider industry, as encouraged by the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore of BCA Green Mark Platinum rated projects. By sharing Lendlease’s best practices gained from the development of the project, the portal serves to inspire other industry players’ interest in sustainable solutions. It also acts as a catalyst for industry discussions on place creation with a people-first thinking and on how the industry can work to further improve the way urban planning is approached sustainably.
