The Sir Run Run Shaw Charitable Trust appoints Lendlease to manage the development of a new landmark Shaw Tower on Beach Road
- 30 Oct 2020
The Sir Run Run Shaw Charitable Trust has announced plans to develop a new landmark “Shaw Tower” on their prominent 100 Beach Road city address. The long-term owner has enlisted the support of Lendlease to manage the redevelopment on their behalf, tapping into Lendlease’s capabilities across development, project management, construction and asset management.
Shaw Tower is strategically located within the Ophir-Rochor corridor and will contribute to the Urban Redevelopment Authority’s (URA) vision to revitalise the area which is rapidly becoming a leading commercial and lifestyle gateway for Singapore. Works on site are set to commence later this year and are targeted to be completed by 2024.

Mr Raymond Chan, Managing Director of Shaw Group of Companies, Hong Kong said: “The Trust looks forward to developing a new Shaw Tower which will assist in supporting the important charitable activities of the Trust. As the original Shaw Tower had achieved in the 1970s, the new Shaw Tower will set leading international design standards whilst respecting the heritage and local context of this key city location.”
Ng Hsueh Ling, Managing Director, Singapore, Lendlease said: “We are honoured to be working with the Trust on the development, design and delivery of this new iconic building which will contribute to the URA’s vision for the Ophir-Rochor area. The project will see the creation of a new city office landmark that is attractive to the best national and international occupants whilst further enhancing the city’s skyline.”
Standing at nearly 200m with extensive views of Marina Bay and the city, the integrated development is proposed to provide 450,000 sq. ft. of Grade A office space and integrated ground floor retail and café offerings.
Aligned with Singapore’s vision to be a car-lite city, Shaw Tower will support urban mobility with seamless pedestrian integration to the surrounding developments, connectivity to the Esplanade, Bugis, City Hall and Promenade MRT stations and the provision of end-of-trip cycling facilities.
Shaw Tower’s vision embraces health and wellbeing ensuring the highest quality indoor environment for its future occupants. It is designed to leading sustainable building standards including the International Building Institute’s WELL rating for advancing human health and wellness and the Building and Construction Authority’s Green Mark sustainability standards.
Putting people at the centre of its design, the new office tower plans include lifestyle amenities to complement the workplace ecosystem, indoor community facilities and an outdoor amphitheatre. The multiple sky gardens and terraces complement the URA’s vision of a green city with park-like environments integrated into the building design.
The development will honour the existing building’s heritage and vibrant streetscape of the Beach Road area, whilst preserving and adaptively reusing a number of heritage elements from the existing building.
The new Shaw Tower has received Preliminary Planning Permission from the URA. Further details of the development will be released over coming months.
