The Murrina Group acquires Lendlease Plant Yard operation

  • 14 Dec 2021
Supply Nation Certified business, The Murrina Group, has acquired the yards, tower cranes, hoists and auxiliary equipment across sites in St. Mary’s, Sydney, and North Altona, Melbourne, aligning with its growth strategy to become a key player in the industry. Since 2018, the business has been steadily building a strong portfolio of projects including recent works at Nepean Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, and Alexandria Park Community School in Sydney.

NAB’s Business Bank has financed the deal, marking one of the largest investments of credit ever to a First Nations organisation in Australia.

The Murrina Group and Lendlease’s Building business have established an executive steering committee to help facilitate the transition of the Plant Yards to The Murrina Group’s operations, and to identify best ways of working together moving forward.

Quote attributable to The Murrina Group Managing Director, Trevor Walker: “We are excited to embark on this landmark transaction and the journey with Lendlease to serve both the construction industry and the First Nations community into the future.

“This acquisition adds to our suite of existing services and grows our client portfolio to support the industry in this period of economic recovery and major infrastructure investment around Australia.”

Quote attributable to Lendlease Building Managing Director, David Paterson: “We’ve achieved the best possible outcome on the divestment of our Plant Yard operation, completing a significant deal with a mature First Nations business.

“As an Elevate RAP organisation, we have a very clear commitment to aligning our operational performance with our commitment to provide growth and opportunity for equal social and economic outcomes for Australia’s First Nations People. This industry milestone demonstrates market confidence in First Nations businesses and their breadth of capabilities, and represents an important step in supporting companies like The Murrina Group so they can continue to expand and diversify their service offerings.”

Quote attributable to NAB’s Executive for Metro Business, Michael Saadie: “I want to congratulate The Murrina Group on securing such a strong venture to drive real change and open up opportunities for the Indigenous community. When this proposal was brought to us, we were excited by the prospect to support a First Nation’s business as this deal clearly aligns with our customer and community values as a business bank whilst also representing a strong commercial proposition which we are proud to support.”
