Lendlease joins Fitwel’s Leadership Advisory Board
- 11 Jan 2022
Lendlease joins pioneering companies across the real estate, sustainability, finance, healthcare, and design sectors to advise on the evolution of Fitwel’s vision and strength of product
Lendlease’s properties are the first and only military installations to use the Fitwel for Communities rating system.
Lendlease, a leading global real estate group, announced today that it is joining the Leadership Advisory Board (LAB) for Fitwel, the world’s leading healthy building certification system operated by the Center for Active Design (CfAD). The LAB advises the CfAD on maintaining Fitwel’s vision and strength of product by providing strategic direction.
Originally created by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. General Services Administration, Fitwel is a rigorous third-party healthy building certification system that sets the industry standard for evidence-based strategies to promote positive health outcomes for building occupants and communities. Lendlease’s participation in Fitwel’s LAB demonstrates the significant strides the company has made to advance the healthy building movement and reflects its dedication to prioritizing resident health and wellness.
“Joining the Fitwel LAB reflects Lendlease’s ongoing commitment to elevating human health and wellness to the forefront of built environment practices in the markets in which we operate,” said Sara Neff, Head of Sustainability for Lendlease in the Americas. “We are looking forward to sharing our expertise in furthering human health with Fitwel and its growing membership network.”
Lendlease has been working with Fitwel since 2017 when the company certified its Chicago NextPlace Office and later leveraged its Horizon Uptown project as part of the pilot to develop Fitwel’s Community Scorecard. Lendlease is currently working with the Fitwel for Communities rating system for its 18 military housing communities, which are the first military housing facilities to do so. The company also intends to Fitwel certify all of its investment management portfolio.
“Lendlease is a pioneer in implementing Fitwel’s strategies into its portfolio, helping to advance our broader efforts to elevate health as a priority in the built environment,” said Joanna Frank, President and CEO of CfAD. “Having Lendlease join our LAB is a natural next step in our mutually beneficial partnership and we look forward to benefiting from the company’s insights as we continue to develop industry-leading best practices in building design and operations.”
