Lendlease scores inaugural WSH CARE Award, spotlighting its exemplary mental well-being initiatives

Picks up total of four WSH awards, extending its health and safety track record at the WSH Awards 2022
Lendlease today announced that it clinched four awards at the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council’s WSH Awards 2022.
Lendlease Singapore won the inaugural Culture of Acceptance, Respect and Empathy (CARE) Award and the WSH Performance Awards (WSHPA) Gold Award for the very first time. Both award wins demonstrate the meaningful progress the company has made on its commitment to raise health and safety standards across projects in Singapore for employees and contractors, especially in the areas of mental health and well-being.
Lendlease Retail also won the WSH Performance Silver award for its management of malls in Singapore including 313@somerset, Jem, Parkway Parade and Paya Lebar Quarter Mall. This is the seventh consecutive year that Lendlease Retail has received a WSH Performance Award.
In addition, Lendlease Singapore was awarded the Safety and Health Award Recognition for Projects (SHARP) for the ninth year running. This time, the win is in recognition of the outstanding safety and health performance of its ongoing project site located at MSD, a global pharmaceutical company, and testament to Lendlease’s continued and consistent success in maintaining workplace safety and health especially for large-scale projects over the years.
An employer that cares
The CARE Award was introduced earlier this year and recognises companies that have exemplary mental well-being practices.
Since 2013, Lendlease has been collating data through comprehensive health assessment of our workforce to understand how it can better support employees. The assessments flagged that there were mental health concerns such as anxiety and depression among the workforce, and correspondingly, a need for education and early intervention and support programmes.
Lendlease has since implemented initiatives, training and support structures even before the pandemic brought such concerns to the fore. These include collaborations with organisations like the WSH Council and Changi General Hospital for mental health programmes; talks and masterclasses; training and subscriptions for apps like Headspace, Sleepfit and Uprise to help employees better manage stress, increase focus and sleep quality; and, a network of lateral support programmes where more than 1,000 of our employees globally receive training in mental health first aid, with over 800 trained under the Friend in Need (FIN) programme.
Lendlease is also one of the first in the industry to provide well-being leave back in 2015 and the first to offer mental health coverage for employees and dependents in Singapore.
