Lendlease and IHG Extend Discounted BAH Rates at all IHG Army Hotels
- 2 Aug 2022
Shortage of available homes on-post and high rent spikes off-post create a critical need for financial assistance among service members and their families trying to secure a new home
Lendlease, a leading global real estate and investment group, and IHG® Army Hotels announced today that it will once again extend the offering of its BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) rate at all 40 on-post IHG Army Hotels locations throughout the US through the end of fiscal year 2023.
“This initiative continues to address a critical need for service members and their families,” commented Matthew Garrett, Vice President and General Manager, Privatized Army Lodging at Lendlease. “With a continued shortage of both on-post housing and rising rents off post, this much-needed financial assistance, paired with a convenient, temporary stay at one of IHG’s on-post Army hotels, has helped bridge the gap until they find permanent accommodation.”
“Fiscal Year 23 will be fourth consecutive year that our PAL provider has offered room rates to PCS families at a daily rate equal to their Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH),” commented Ms. Carla Coulson, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Installations, Housing & Partnerships). “We’re pleased to see Lendlease and IHG again stepping up to offer this special rate in support of the Army’s mission. Interested servicemembers should reach out to their local housing office for details.”
By the numbers, there were more than 133k hotel rooms booked since the special BAH rate was announced in July 2021 (through June 2022). Additionally, an impressive $3.6m was saved by military service members from the BAH discounted hotel room rate.
“Guests enjoyed additional savings from the amenities provided by hotels, including complimentary breakfast, free WIFI, Cable, and laundry facilities,” continued Garrett. “And, our service members weren’t burdened with the utility and other bills they would have faced had they stayed at an apartment or house.”
Chuck Sourbeer, Vice President of Operations, IHG Army Hotels, commented, "We’re proud to be able to offer a home away from home for so many military travelers and their families and especially now with current housing disruptions. Thousands of families have taken advantage of this special discounted rate over the last year and we know that extending the rate is the right thing to do to support those who serve us every day.”
The BAH rate is available upon request, under certain terms and conditions*, and not a default rate at check-in at IHG Army Hotels. A family (or anyone on PCS orders) having trouble securing housing should contact the housing office (or hotel front desk) for a form that provides hotel staff with the information they need to manually adjust the rate, so the going-forward rate equals their particular BAH.

IHG Hotel & Resorts is the hotel operator and manager of IHG Army Hotels. To learn more or book a room under the extended BAH rate at IHG Army hotels, visit www.ihgarmyhotels.com.
*Terms & Conditions: The BAH rate will need to be determined by rank and number of dependents. Guests must request the rate with the General Manager or Operations Manager. The BAH rate cannot be retroactive or be applied to a past stay. Rooms are based on availability. All applicable state and local taxes apply and vary by locations.
