Lendlease (US) Community Fund raises more than $325,000 for Military Families and Veterans
- 31 Oct 2022
In addition to raising funds for LLCF’s BlueStar Scholarships, which has provided more than $1.2 million in college scholarships to the sons and daughters of service members living in our military housing communities, and Military Homefront programs, the tournament supported nonprofits including CreatiVets, Centerstone Military Services, K9s for Warriors, Operation Stand Down Tennessee, Operation Shower, Thistle Farms, and Lendlease’s newest partner Wear Blue: Run to Remember, among others. Players from local, regional, and national corporations participated including title sponsor Bank of America; platinum sponsors Bureau Veritas, Guggenheim, HD Supply, Mainscape, and WinnResidential; and gold sponsors Lincoln Land Services LLC, Lowe’s Pro Supply and Paragon Construction.
Dean Wegner, Founder and CEO of Authentically American, joined the event as this year’s keynote speaker to share his story as a U.S. Army Veteran and owner of an American-made apparel brand. “I believe veterans and first responders are American heroes,” said Dean. “Lendlease and the 18 FORE MILITARY FAMILIES Golf Tournament is committed to making a difference by serving these courageous service members, as well as their families. I was humbled and honored to be the keynote speaker this year and glad to partner as a hole sponsor. Count Authentically American in next year, as well!”
Additionally, LLCF continues to find unique ways to reach its military community. Richard Casper, Co-Founder and Executive Director of CreatiVets said, “Our Lendlease Community Fund partnership has been instrumental to the growth and outreach capabilities of CreatiVets. We were able to serve and empower many veterans through our arts programming that otherwise might not have received help. Lendlease has made a lot of dreams come true for a lot of veterans and community members!" CreatiVets has become a staple of 18 FORE MILITARY FAMILIES and provided nationally known songwriters and music for the event.
Phillip Carpenter, Chairman of the LLCF Board, reminded guests and participants at the event about Lendlease’s unwavering commitment to giving back. “We appreciate the constant sacrifices that our service members and their families make and are honored to give back to them through our nonprofit organization. This year marks nine years of hosting this golf tournament and I am proud to say we have successfully raised over $2.5 million thanks to all who have contributed to the tournament and continue to do so year after year. Through these charitable contributions, we provided over $1.2 million in college scholarships to the sons and daughters of service members living within our military housing communities through our BlueStar Scholarships program. Our efforts would not be possible without our generous sponsors, loyal partners, and dedicated Lendlease volunteers.”
LLCF is a nonprofit organization that focuses its efforts on supporting military service members who live in homes and neighborhoods Lendlease has created, as well as supporting the communities where its employees work and live. Through the LLCF, Lendlease supports community growth and development by funding projects that address community challenges in the areas of housing, education, health, economic development, and environmental sustainability and create or support programming aimed at improving the quality of life for military families who sacrifice so much for the United States.
