Exemplar Health announced as preferred bidder for new Melton Hospital

Melbourne, 19 July 2024: The Exemplar Health consortium has been announced by the Victorian Government as the preferred bidder to deliver the New Melton Hospital Project. 

The consortium comprises Lendlease as design and construction partner and Capella Capital as lead sponsor, investor (on behalf of Lendlease) and asset manager, together with partners Invesis Coöperatie U.A, and Honeywell and Compass Group Healthcare.

The Victorian Government has committed more than $900 million to deliver the landmark Melton Hospital project, which will support the rapidly growing community in Melbourne's west, and will include a 24-hour emergency department, at least 274 beds, an intensive care unit, maternity and neonatal services, mental health services, radiology services and outpatient care. It will also be Victoria’s first fully-electric hospital.

The new hospital is expected to create more than 700 direct jobs and 1,700 indirect jobs during construction.

Subject to financial close, works are expected to start in 2024 with targeted completion in 2029.

Today’s announcement reinforces Lendlease’s social infrastructure capability and continues its relationship with the Victorian Government, having previously delivered the award-winning Bendigo Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital and Monash Children’s Hospital, in addition to the Frankston Hospital redevelopment currently under construction.
