Prior to joining Lendlease, Lovett was director of urban design and development for New York City-based SHoP Architects, where he led the firm’s global portfolio of urban design and planning projects. He managed the creation of innovative mixed-use development and master plans for a range of large, complex projects, including Rice University’s 16-acre South Main Innovation District in Houston, Texas; the 8.7-million square-foot Schuylkill Yards master plan in Philadelphia; and a six-acre mixed-use innovation hub across from the Cornell Tech campus in Long Island City.
Lovett also contributed to the design of some iconic architecture projects across the world, including the Collins Arch in Melbourne, Australia and 111 W57th Street, the world’s most slender residential tower that sits atop a historic landmark overlooking Central Park. Lovett has also held a teaching fellowship at Columbia University and was a member of the Columbia Building Intelligence Project (C-BIP).
Lovett earned a Master of Architecture (M.Arch) and Master of Science in Real Estate Development (MsRED) from the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and the American Institute of Architects.
He joins Lendlease during a significant moment for the integrated property development, construction and investment firm’s Americas business, which has both launched and completed a number of innovative district-scale projects in recent months. In September, Lendlease welcomed residents and the general public to its seven-acre Clippership Wharf district in East Boston. In the same month, Lendlease officially opened Southbank Park, a publicly-accessible two-acre park serving both residents of Lendlease’s Southbank development and the broader South Loop neighborhood. In July, Lendlease announced its partnership with Google to develop three new mixed-use neighborhoods in the Silicon Valley towns of Mountain View, Sunnyvale and downtown San Jose.
