At Lendlease, making a difference in our local communities is part of what we do every day.
In 2020, Lendlease announced an ambitious social value target, to create $250 million of social value by 2025 and a four-step pathway to creating and measuring social value.
Our social value target reflects our ambition to make a positive impact on people’s lives by improving their quality of life, supporting health and wellbeing, providing economic opportunities, improving the local environment, and building resilient and thriving communities.
$250m of social value by 2025
We have set ourselves a target to create $250 million of social value by 2025.
Our $250 million target is not a budget we invest, it’s the amount of social value we anticipate will be created.
Our target includes the social value created through the work of our corporate shared value partnerships and Community Grants program, funded by the Lendlease Foundation, as well as other initiatives such as Future Steps, which is funded by the business. Importantly, our social value target focuses on initiatives that go above and beyond any project or asset contractual obligations.
Creating and measuring social value
Social value is created when an activity makes a positive impact on an individual’s quality of life or improves the resilience of a community. The social value accounted for in support of our target is calculated through placing a financial value on the quantified change people experience across a series of social outcomes and is verified externally.
We are partnering with like-minded organisations
To create social value, we are partnering with like-minded, not-for-profit community organisations, whose work aligns to the Lendlease Foundation constitution and supports the objectives of the Lendlease Sustainability Framework focus areas.
One way we are partnering with community organisations is through the Lendlease Foundation Community Grants program. Our Community Grants program supports not-for-profit organisations and charities that deliver impact across the focus areas of the Lendlease Sustainability Framework.

We are also creating social value through our projects and assets
Our social impact journey extends throughout our business operations where we aim to deliver social value across all our projects and assets. These efforts create meaningful social value for communities throughout the project lifecycle.
On projects and assets our social impact activities are guided by the three social focus areas of our Sustainability Framework: economic prosperity, community inclusion and wellbeing.
The extensive social value created by our project and assets teams is not included in our $250 million by 2025 social value target.
