Our vision for reconciliation remains one that drives all employees to acknowledge and celebrate the proud heritage of Australia’s First Peoples. It also promotes opportunities for career development, sustainable business growth and economic participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians.

In 2016, our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) achieved ‘Elevate’ status, the highest level to be awarded by Reconciliation Australia. Lendlease first introduced a RAP in 2011. Our next RAP will be released late 2019.

Our Elevate RAP applies three goals to our Australian operations:

    1. All Lendlease employees in Australia will be invited to participate in cultural awareness and engagement learning.  

    • 5,400 Lendlease employees in Australia have completed face to face or online cultural awareness learning
    • 100+ Lendlease employees in Australia have engaged in cultural immersion opportunities on Country.
    • First client of Arrilla Digital, an Indigenous cultural competency online learning program available to all Lendlease employees.

       

    2. We will increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees in our Australian business.  
    • Approximately two per cent of our Australian employees are Indigenous.
    • 100+ Indigenous university interns have been hosted by Lendlease through our partnership with CareerTrackers since 2011, of which more than 20 have converted into full-time employment across our businesses.
    • Five formal partnerships with organisations that work to improve academic and employment outcomes for Indigenous students.

    3. We will increase procurement from, and support the development of, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses in Australia.  

    • The Gymea program is our national procurement strategy targeted at increasing procurement activity with Indigenous businesses.
    • $68.3 million spend in FY18 with registered and certified Indigenous businesses.
    • 11 Indigenous businesses have signed strategic partnership agreements with Lendlease to create opportunities that enable them to grow.

Lendlease Supports Constitutional Recognition for Indigenous Australians

Lendlease has joined some of Australia’s largest companies to support the Uluru Statement from the Heart and its call for the establishment of a First Nations voice in the Australian Constitution.
The ‘Response to the Uluru Statement’ was developed by Lendlease and 13 other participating organisations who all share the highest Elevate-level of leadership for their Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs).

Our Response to the Uluru Statement:

We represent 14 diverse organisations across a range of sectors including, academia, aviation, construction, energy, engineering, insurance, legal, professional services, sport and resources. Collectively we educate, employ and provide services to people across all of Australia. Together, we make this response to the Uluru Statement from the Heart:

We recognise the Uluru Statement from the Heart as an historic mandate to create a fuller expression of Australia’s nationhood.

We hear your call for the establishment of a First Nations Voice enshrined in the Constitution and for a referendum to amend the Constitution accordingly. 

We hear your call for a Makarrata Commission to supervise a process of agreement-making between governments and First Nations and truth-telling about our history.

In a spirit of reconciliation, we look forward to working with and supporting you, as a matter of national priority, to develop and enact specific proposals in relation to Voice, Treaty and Truth.
