Project outcome

Lendlease is the design-builder teamed with ZGF Architects of Portland for Google’s new 1390 Borregas Mechanical Facility designed to service commercial development within Moffett Park.

The project includes three buildings connected by an elevated boardwalk, four thermal energy storage (TES) tanks, renewable solar embodied into the building facades, native landscaping, on-site stormwater retention and associated bioswales. The all-electric facility is anticipated to offset more than 5,250 metric tons of carbon emissions annually in comparison to traditional commercial office buildings.

The 1390 Borregas Mechanical Facility will also serve as an educational amenity to visitors and employees once it opens in 2023. This project showcases Google’s commitment to operating carbon free by 2030 and accomplishing this through partnerships with the City of Sunnyvale, Lendlease and ZGF Architects.
