Project outcome

In addition to the 86 new beds (46-bed infant, toddler and post-neonatal and pediatric intensive care unit, a ten-bed dedicated traumatic brain injury unit and a 30-bed pediatric/adolescent inpatient unit), the expansion project provides therapy rooms, administrative space, conference rooms, dining area and a family resource center.

Concurrently, the project team managed the construction of a new outdoor recreation area for the Mt. Pleasant-Blythedale School, which is located on the Blythedale Children's Hospital campus in Valhalla, NY. The project consisted of excavation, foundations, new underground utilities, utility relocation, a new canopy and a new, handicap accessible' playground.

Lendlease was retained to manage the next phase of the expansion/renovation project, a 30,000 square foot interior renovation project. This phased renovation of the existing hospital building created new speech therapy treatment rooms, executive administrative offices, early childhood center and committees on preschool special education classrooms, conference rooms and a new day hospital.
