Project outcome
Lendlease provided construction management services for the core and shell renovation of Mount Sinai Health Systems new Behavioral Health Center (BHC) within a pre-existing building at 45 Rivington Street in downtown Manhattan.
45 Rivington Street was constructed in the late 1800s and consists primarily of terracotta slab floors and cast-iron columns. An addition was added to the building in the 1900s. It consists of a main five-story building and an adjacent structure on the south side of the main building. The scope included a full gut renovation; including early demolition and structural upgrades, and new MEP infrastructure consisting primarily of rooftop equipment and six new elevators. A cellar and sixth-floor penthouse level at the roof was added.
The Behavioral Health Center is a 131-bed, six-story, 134,125 square foot state-of-the-art building that functions as a community-oriented destination for behavioral healthcare. It acts as a one-stop location for mental health, addictions, physical health and social services needs for the downtown community. Mount Sinai Health Systems is offering inpatient care, detoxification, and rehabilitation services at the new site. The program also consists of intensive crisis and respite beds, primary care, and a partial hospitalization program, which provides intensive outpatient services without requiring an overnight stay.
