Lendlease managed the construction of Extell's flagship hotel and condominium project located at 157 West 57th Street.
Project outcome
The 77-story, 853,000 square foot mixed-use tower was designed by Pritzker prize winning architect Christian de Portzamparc and is home to New York City's first Park Hyatt Hotel. Above the five-star hotel are 135 super-luxury condominium residences offering expansive views of Central Park and midtown Manhattan. Its 1,007 foot elevation distinguishes it as one of the city's tallest, residential buildings.
The structure is reinforced concrete and contains three cellar levels one of which is designated for parking. The foundation consists of mat and continuous footings, including underpinning and tie backs used to stabilize the building to an adjacent foundation. The building is clad with a custom aluminum and glass curtain wall.
The hotel features 210 guest rooms, fine dining, a grand ballroom and event space, luxury spa, state-of-the-art fitness center, indoor swimming pool, conference center, private garden, landscaped plaza, bar, restaurant and retail in a three-story aerie at the top of the hotel.
Hotel guestrooms include marble and tile floors, while tile walls and millwork comprise the hotel bathrooms. Condominium interiors feature marble and stone in bathrooms and kitchens, walnut and bronze finishes, and rosewood or oak wood floors. Ceiling heights range from ten to 12 feet in condominiums and 16-foot ceilings in the penthouses on the top three floors.
The building features 15 passenger elevators, three service elevators and two residential lifts.
