Amy - "The most rewarding professional experience was participating in the Chatswood School Engagement Program"
Amy Lovell
Cost Planning, Integrated Solutions, 2018 cohort graduate
1. What project are you currently working on?
I am currently working on Martin Place Metro Over Station Development having just come off Circular Quay Tower.
2. What are your day to day activities?
As a Graduate Cost Planner, my day to day role is to support the Cost Planning team as well as other members of the integrated project team with all things relating to the project's budget, cost planning project briefs and drawings as well as value engineering tenders to assist in the winning of work.
3. What are 1-2 things you wish you knew before you started?
Your seniors and team members are there to support you through the graduate program so don't be afraid to speak out if you have any questions about your rotations and what is expected of you as a graduate. Seek feedback, wherever possible, on your personal performance as you rotate through projects and business units. This will assist in your development and understanding of your interactions with your team members and the project role at large. Scheduling regular coffee catch-ups is a great way to have informal discussions with your manager or seniors.
4. What has been the most rewarding professional experience since joining Lendlease?
The most rewarding professional experience was participating in the Chatswood School Engagement Program with my peers, talking with students about the construction industry and inspiring young students to explore career prospects within the building sector.

Miranda - “It’s ok to not know the answer sometimes. That’s the best thing about the graduate program– this is the time to learn.”
Miranda Osgood,
Site Engineer, Building, 2018 cohort graduate
1. What projects did you work on during the Graduate Program?
During the Graduate Program, I had the opportunity to work on the next stage of the Barangaroo Development, One Sydney Harbour - a luxury residential development.
2. What were your day-to-day activities?
As a site engineer, I worked with different teams managing various packages during my two years. In my first year, I spent my time supporting the remediation team with site water treatment, managing program and day to day activities including the commissioning, decommissioning and day to day operation of a water treatment plant. I then moved into the Public Domain team, where I have worked through procurement and tendering, design development and delivery of the waterfront structure package, which continues to be completed with the final civil and landscaping packages of the public domain.
3. What are 1-2 things you wish you knew before you started?
You will be faced with challenges, and you will overcome them, no matter how challenging or difficult they may seem at the time. You will learn a wealth of knowledge and be supported every step of the way. It’s ok to not know the answer sometimes. That’s the best thing about the graduate program – this is the time to learn. You will also find that sometimes you will feel like you have a never ending to do list – this won’t change, you just have to learn to prioritise. You will get to work with people within the business who were once in your shoes – embrace it, ask challenges, network, volunteer, get involved in things and support your peers.
4. What has been the most rewarding professional experience since joining Lendlease?
One of the greatest experiences is definitely being exposed and being able to work with senior people in the business who have a wealth of knowledge.
I have been lucky enough to get involved and be supported by many different experiences since starting with Lendlease. My advice would be to get involved in opportunities to volunteer for events (such as PIF regatta, or Girls In Property) – Attend the Ausgrads events – or better yet join the committee. There are many networking events and opportunities that will arise to be taken advantage of.
