The Mount Gilead Estate is an 882-hectare rural property in the southern part of the Campbelltown City Council local government area at Gilead. It comprises of three precincts.
- Mount Gilead Homestead
The Mount Gilead Homestead was listed on the New South Wales Sate Heritage Register in 2020. The privately owned 150-hectare historic property will be retained and protected in perpetuity with existing native bushland areas retained to provide wildlife connectivity. Features of the estate include the historic homestead, tower mill and heritage dam. - Figtree Hill (Gilead Stage 1)
The 216-hectare Figtree Hill precinct was approved for urban development in 2019 and earthworks commenced in 2022.

Nearly half of the 495-hectare Gilead precinct is proposed to be retained for environmental conservation. For the remaining area, a rezoning proposal for 3,300 new homes, parks, schools and convenience shops was approved in June 2024. This development opportunity continues to be managed by Lendlease.
Greater Macarthur
Both Figtree Hill (Gilead Stage 1) and Gilead (Stage 2) are included in the Greater Macarthur Growth Area identified by the NSW Department of Planning . Stage 1 and 2 are included in the NSW Government’s future land-use structure plan and there are overlapping considerations of Heritage, Biodiversity and Infrastructure such as Appin Road upgrades that are common to both Figtree Hill and Gilead.
