Our customer

Cairns Central total trade area has an estimated population of 242,638 as of December 2022, which is forecast to grow at an average annual rate of 1.1% reaching 283,920 by 2036. The centre also benefits from the large tourist population visiting the Cairns region. The average age of the main trade area population is 38.8 years. The main trade area average household income is $98,855 with 53.1% percentage of population with dependent children.

Our trade area

The Cairns Central total trade area is defined to include two primary sectors, two secondary sectors and three tertiary sectors. The total trade area extends 80 km to the north and south and 50 km to the west. The extensive trade area reflects the dominant position the Cairns CBA plays within Far North Queensland, recognising the role of the centre as the major regional centre for the region. A high proportion of centre sales come from outside the defined trade area, highlighting the importance of the tourist market to centre trade.
